| Personal Development is a multi-million dollar business. So, why are so many normal people still pissed off with their lives. The problem is that a lot of Personal Development stuff makes you feel good but doesn't have any lasting effect, it doesn't enable you Change Your Life. | Willie Horton's Personal Development Blog at Gurdy.Net |
| Well, I'm trying a different approach - Gurdy.Net is my way of putting all my Personal Development Seminars Online - in bite-size pieces, using video to impress the subconscious mind. | Simple Tips that Will Change Your Life |
| And, my Personal Development Blog aims to do a couple of different things too - I cast a cold eye on the bizarre behaviour of so-called normal people - every-so-often I offer some insights into something different that you might do straight away to kick-start the process of so-called Self-Improvement and, then again, when I come across crap in the news - and there's a lot of crap - well, that just might result in a little observation of how normal people are simply losing the plot. Want to get involved - well, it's about time that you got involved in improving your own life... | ![]() |

What Does God Have to Say About This? |
I read from pre-launch publicity that Stephen Hawking, in his forthcoming book, will state that it wasn’t necessary for God to ‘light the blue touchpaper’ that set off the Big Bang or Creation. Obviously, his publicists know how to spin that pre-launch publicity! Apparently, he will state that our universe’s coming about was an inevitable consequence of physics. I’ll hold fire on commenting on his latest book until I’ve read it – but I’m just wondering how this latest more... |

Addicted to Normality |
As normal people, we’re all suffering from a grievous addiction – we’re addicted to what passes for the comfort of our ordinary everyday lives. We’re not uncomfortable enough to do something about living the life that we could really live. A couple of weeks ago I received a very abusive email from someone who told me that she didn’t need to ‘break out’ of her normal life – that she was quite happy ‘going to the shops, washing the car, doing the laundry and more... |

Looking Forward to the Weekend? |
Of course you are! And all that means is that you’re normal and crazy like all the other normal crazy people. Because if you’re looking forward you’re not all here – and here (and now) is the only place and time that you can live your life. At least, looking forward to something pleasurable heightens the anticipation – but it often dampens the enjoyment when things don’t turn out to be quite as expected. Quick question! Cast your mind back to the best night out more... |

There's No Time Like the Present! |
The old saying suggests that “there’s no time like the present” – and that is, indeed, the case. Now is all you have – Now is the moment in which you need to do your very best, regardless of what you’re doing or where you are, now. If you’re doing something really mundane – like taking the dishes out of the dishwasher, or writing this month’s management report – do it as if your life depended upon it. Because, in reality, it does. If you insist, through more... |

Do Self Affirmations Work? |
The short answer is no – unless you have a few years to spare and a heavy-duty supply of perseverance. Self-affirmation addresses the conscious mind – but your conscious mind has nothing to do with the way you behave, react, view the world or, most importantly, view yourself. However, as a I said, if you throw enough mud at your conscious mind, sooner or later – actually, definitely later – some of that mud will stick and make an impression on your more... |

Time for a Little Relaxation |
It’s the weekend – time to cast off the Monday to Friday cares and chill out. It’s strange, though, I know plenty of people who have told me that they don’t know how to chill out. One guy told me that he feels guilty sitting relaxing on a Saturday – he feels compelled to fly around the house and garden determined to find something to do. Another guy recently told me that, whilst Saturday morning is his golf morning, and whilst he actually goes out on the more... |

Personal Development and the Slippery Slope! |
Feeling a little down at the moment? Perhaps, you’re just a little flat or not looking forward to something that you’d prefer not to have to do today. You’re on a slippery slope because if you, for one moment, entertain the thought that you might not be in tip top form, you have succumbed to a part of you that has absolutely nothing to do with reality. Because, if there’s a tinge of apprehension, a tingle of anxiety, the merest suggestion of stress, this more... |

Stop, Reflect and Choose |
Obviously, I’m not sure at what time of day you’re reading this. Undoubtedly, however, you are surrounded and pre-occupied by the priorities (rightly or wrongly) of the day, the cares of the world. “Pre-occupied” is a very expressive way of summing up the way our minds can be hijacked by squatters – thoughts, cares and worries that are already there when we try to calm ourselves and clear our minds. But clear our minds we must. So, as you read these more... |

Expecting the Very Best |
I’m right in the middle of revising and updating my Personal Development book, To Succeed... Just Let Go – for release in Kindle format this Autumn. My book was originally written in 2002 and I’ve learned a lot since then. As a result, the main updates are all about how my state of mind affects my energy, how my energy affects your energy and how our energy affects universal energy, which responds to what we put into that universal mix. It was only after I’d more... |

Looking at Life in a Different Way |
Unfortunately, most people look at life through dark glasses and, consequently, everything looks gloomier than it should. This is normal because the normal mind is hard-wired to look at reality through our conditioning and it is more likely than not that the mind will focus on negative rather than positive conditioning. This mental frailty is what is keeping your life on hold. You have to change the way you look at the world. However, I am not suggesting that you look at more... |

Do You Suffer from Depression? Read On! |
One in five people will suffer from depression in the course of their adult lives. I think that statistic actually means that one in five will be diagnosed with depression because I suspect that the number of people who suffer from depression is higher. Why? Because it’s normal to be depressed – it’s the way out subconscious mind is wired – God alone knows why! If you’re one of the suffering masses, why not take a look at my two new videos on the more... |

The Wandering of the Wayward Mind |
How many times has your mind wandered in the last hour? Are you often distracted? Can you sit and work through something until it’s done without doing something else in between? Everyone’s mind wanders – it’s an integral part of the adult human condition. Research indicates that we each, individually, have in the region of 50,000 random thoughts each day. But, a wandering mind makes you less effective, you get less done and you get more frustrated more... |

Are You Worried About the Impression You're Making? |
You shouldn’t worry about what other people think of you. They don’t! They’re worrying about what you think of them. And, so, no one really experiences what’s actually going on – whether it’s meeting the cool blonde at the bar, trying to impress in that interview or making that presentation to a new client. If you’re worried about the impression you’re making, you’re not making one! Because part of you has started watching you – in other words, more... |
